Scanning devices and sensors for TSC-type devices

The following types of scanning devices and sensors are designed for inspection of various equipment:

Type 1

Type 1. The scanning device is designed for inspection of pipelines, vessels and extended welded joints. It is manufactured in form of a 4-wheel trolley with four flux-gate transducers and a length-counting device. It is possible to inspect the objects on distance of 2-5 m at the use of a specialized extension rode. The sensor can be used for railway track inspection at installation of special brackets. It is used with TSC-1M-4 device.

Type 1-8M. The scanning device with eight flux-gate transducers in their two-component installation for simultaneous measuring of the normal (Hpy) and tangential (Hpx) components of the magnetic field. It is used with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32, TSC-6M-8 devices.

Type 2

Type 2. The small scanning device is versatile and equipped with two flux-gate transducers and a length-counting device with one wheel. It can be used for inspection of practically all test objects including those with complex shape as well as to carry out inspection in out-of-the-way places. It is most effective used for inspection of: turbine and compressor blades; blade packet shrouds, rims and hubs of turbine rotor disks, fixing parts (studs, bolted joints, etc.), gear sets; small-diameter rods and tubes, grooves and fillet connections in different-purpose parts. It is used with TSCM-2FM, TSC-1M-4 devices.

Type 2M. The scanning device with four flux-gate transducers in their two-component installation for simultaneous measuring of the normal and tangential components of the magnetic field. It is used with any TSC-type devices.

Type 3

Type 3. The scanning device is equipped with two flux-gate transducers and a length-counting device with two wheels. It is manufactured in small casing. The scanning device is designed for inspection of small-sized products as well as of complex shape parts. This scanning device is most effectively used for inspection of small-diameter rods and tubes as well as of fixing parts. It is used with TSC-1M-4 device.

Type 3M. The scanning device with four flux-gate transducers in their two-component installation for simultaneous measuring of the normal and tangential components of the magnetic field. It is used with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32, TSC-6M-8 devices.

Type 3M-4W

Type 3M-4W. The scanning device has four flux-gate transducers in their two-component installation for simultaneous measuring of the normal and tangential components of the magnetic field. It is designed for inspection of small-sized products as well as of complex shape parts. This scanning device is most effectively used for inspection of rods and small-diameter tubes (for example, heating surface tubes). It is used with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32, TSC-6M-8 devices.

Type 4

Type 4. The two-channel sensor without a length-counting device. Inspection is carried out by numerical values of the Hp field intensity in the inspection point. The TSC-type device has a special mode for plotting the Hp field distribution graphs using this sensor. The sensor is appropriate for inspection in out-of-the-way sites or on parts with the shape on which the scanning devices cannot be used. It is used with TSCM-2FM, TSC-1M-4.

Type 4M. The sensor without a length-counting device. It has four flux-gate transducers in their two-component installation for simultaneous measuring of the normal and tangential components of the magnetic field. It is used with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32, TSC-6M-8 devices.

Type 5

Type 5. The sensor is designed for in-pipe diagnostics of heat exchanger tubes, flushing holes, etc. It has four flux-gate transducers in their two-component installation for simultaneous measuring of the normal and tangential components of the magnetic field. Length counting is carried out in the "timer" mode on the device at a constant sensor movement speed. It is used with any TSC-type devices.

Type 6

Type 6. The scanning device with four flux-gate transducers for measurement of the normal magnetic field component is designed for large-diameter pipelines, vessels and apparatuses shells inspection. It is manufactured on the basis of the Type 1 scanning device. The extended distance between the flux-gate transducers allows increasing the speed of large-diameter pipelines, vessels and apparatuses shells inspection. The number of flux-gate transducers along the pipe perimeter can be increased up to 8-12 at the use of this device in combination with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32, TSC-6M-8 devices (Type 6-8, Type 6-12).

Type 6-8M. The scanning device with eight flux-gate transducers in their two-component installation for simultaneous measuring of the normal and tangential components of the magnetic field. It is used in combination with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32, TSC-6M-8 devices.

Type 6-12M. The scanning device with twelve flux-gate transducers in their two-component installation for simultaneous measuring of the normal and tangential components of the magnetic field. It is used in combination with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32 devices.

Type 6-16M

Type 6-16M. The scanning device has sixteen flux-gate transducers in their two-component installation for simultaneous measuring of the normal and tangential components of the magnetic field. The sensors are installed on hold-down axles. It is used in combination with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32 devices.

Type 8

Type 8. The sensor has four or more flux-gate transducers without a length counting device. It is designed for railway track inspection. A special functional mode of the TSC-type device or an external length counting sensor of the flaw detector car is used for plotting the Hp field distribution graphs. "Metro-MMMTest" software is developed especially for recording information on the rails state.

Type 9

Type 9. The sensor has four or more flux-gate transducers without a length counting device. It is designed for spot inspection of resistance welding within the instrument-computer diagnostic complex. "RW-MMMTest" software is developed especially for resistance welding inspection results processing.

Type 11-16W

Type 11-6W. The specialized highly sensitive six-channel scanning device with integrated three-component flux-gate transducers and analogue-digital converter. It is designed for non-contact magnetometric diagnostics of gas- and oil-pipelines being buried at the depth of 2-3 m. The scanning device is manufactured as a telescopic bar. It is mounted on the road measuring wheel. At the same time the scanning device can be used both with the measuring wheel and independently. It is used with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32, TSC-6M-8 devices.

Type 11-12W

Type 11-12W. The specialized highly sensitive twelve-channel scanning device with integrated three-component flux-gate transducers and analogue-digital converter. It is designed for non-contact magnetometric diagnostics of gas- and oil-pipelines being buried at the depth of 2-3 m. The scanning device is manufactured in the form of a telescopic bar with a rod for mounting of four three-component sensors. The rod length and the distance between the sensors depend on the diameter of the inspected pipe. The scanning device mounted on the road measuring wheel. At the same time the scanning device can be used both with the measuring wheel and independently. It is used with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32 devices.

Type 12

Type 12. The scanning device is designed for inspection of large-diameter (Ø 530-1420 mm) pipelines with the number of flux-gate transducers from twelve to thirty-two. The number of flux-gate transducers and the size of a scanning device depend on the inspected pipeline diameter. The scanning device covers the entire pipeline perimeter and ensures 100% inspection of the entire pipeline surface. It is used with the TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32 devices or notebook.

Type 13

Type 13. The specialized scanning device with integrated two-component flux-gate transducers. It is designed for inspection of both new and used steel wire quality. The wire moves inside the guide combined with the measuring sensor. The scanning device is used with the TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32 device.

Type 14

Type 14. The specialized sensor with integrated two-component flux-gate transducers. It is designed for inspection of drive frog spindles used for torque transmission from the electric motor to the master gear unit of the electric locomotive wheel pair. It is used with any TSC-type devices.

Type 15

Type 15. Multi-channel scanning device with integrated two-component flux-gate transducers. It is designed for inspection of steel ropes or long small-diameter tubes (from 12 to 60 mm). The device consists of the metallic casing, removable bush corresponding to the diameter of the inspected tube or rope, and the length-counting device. It is used with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32, TSC-6M-8 devices.

Type 16

Type 16. The scanning device with twelve flux-gate transducers in their two-component installation for simultaneous measuring of the normal and tangential components of the magnetic field. It is designed for inspection of flushing holes of turbine rotors, manifolds and in-pipe diagnostics. It is used with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32 devices.

Type 17

Type 17. Multi-channel scanning device with integrated two-component flux-gate transducers (up to 32 measuring channels). It is designed for inspection of pipes, shaft, holders for pipe broach and other cylindrical products in diameter from 200 up to 500 mm. It is used with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32 devices.

Type 17-16M

Type 17-16M. Sixteen-channel scanning device with integrated two-component flux-gate transducers is designed for inspection of pipes, shaft and other cylindrical products in diameter from 200 up to 500 mm. It may be used for inspection of large-diameter pipelines by several generatrixes or for inspection of surface area. It is used with TSC-2M-8, TSC-3M-12, TSC-4M-16, TSC-5M-32 devices.

Type 18

Type 18. System for quick quality inspection of oil-and-gas drilling machine tubing. Inspection is carried out in automatic mode at tube movement rate of up to 1 m/s. The number of measurement channels is from 16 to 32 depending on the tube diameter. Processing of results is performed using specialized software, which allows carrying out on-line inspection with reflection on the computer screen of current diagnostic parameters in comparison with those being limiting by defects and structure inhomogeneities of metal.

Principles of sensors and scanning devices classification:

  • By the type of information reading: scanning mode (inspection with length gauging) and "timer" mode (inspection without length gauging).
  • By designation (depending on the test object) and by the number of measurement channels.
  • By the variants of flux-gate transducers layout: one-component sensors (for measurement of the magnetic field normal component); two-component sensors (for measurement of the magnetic field normal and tangential components); three-component sensors (for measurement of the magnetic field normal and two tangential components). Two- and three-component sensors are used for improving the inspection effectiveness by special techniques.
